Description

Total length about 1m and over 3kg. Elongated nody with short black legs. The tail is about half the total length with a broad black tassel of long hair. Long, dark grey, coarse hair which is longer towards the hindquarters. Usually near water and in thickets. Diurnal. Lives in pairs of family parties, foraging for mice, birds, eggs, frogs, reptiles and insects. When moving together they move in caravan fashion, nose to tail. Rare in the reserve but has been seen within the main entrance.
