 Passer melanurus


Male: the head and breast is black with broad white semi-circles on either side, from behind the eye to the side of the throat. The mantle is grey, the back, rump and upper-wing bright rufous and the under-parts white. The female is similar, but duller with the head and breast dark grey. Normally seen near human habitation, but very common all around Hermanus. Common resident.
