Description

The breeding male is black and white with a red bill. It is black above with white nape band, rump, wing-bar and under-parts. The 4 central tail feathers are greatly elongated. The female and non-breeding male’s head is broadly striped black and tawny, the rest of the upper-parts tawny, streaked lack and white below. The male’s red bill is diagnostic. Uncommon resident.
