Description

The characteristic call, heard at dusk and dawn and throughout moonlit nights, resembles the words “Good Lord, deliver us”. The nightjar has extensive rufous colouring about the neck, head and upper breast. The wings and tale have white markings and the upper chest bold white patches. It roosts on the ground during the day. Uncommon resident.
