Endemic to the winter-rainfall region of the south-western Cape, this sunbird is found from sea level to mountain slopes with fynbos, including Protea and Erica. The male’s head, throat and mantle is bright metallic green and the rest of the upper-parts olive green. The upper breast is metallic violet and the rest of the under-side deep orange shading to lighter orange. The female is olive-green above and olive-yellow below. Localised common resident
