Description

Plants up to 60cm tall. Basal leaves 6-12, rigid and erect reaching the inflorescence base or shorter, cauline (arising from the stem) leaves brown and lax. Inflorescence 2-12 flowered, flowers blue, often with purple markings on dorsal sepal. Spur horizontal, conical, 1.5-3mm long. Lip more or less ovate, decurved, variably lacerate (dissected, roughly torn on margins). venusta meaning 'handsome or charming' and referring to the striking shape and colour of the flower.
