Description

Plants 8-30cm high. Corm ovoid with woody, overlapping tunics. Leaves several-ribbed, sword-shaped to linear. Flowers white to yellow, often reddish on the outside and sometimes darker in the centre. Bracts green often becoming dry above. From Greek: geisson = tile, rhiza = root: regular overlapping of the corm tunics in some species.
