Description

This is the smallest wader in South Africa. The back is mottled grey-brown with white under-parts and the bill is short, stout and straight. In flight a white wing-bar and white edges on the rump are visible. It forages in the muddy parts of lagoons, like Kleinriviersvlei. Common summer visitor.
