Description

This non-aquatic Kingfisher is found in coastal bush, areas such as the Mussel River and adjacent gardens. It is distinguished from other kingfishers by itís all red bill, brownish head, buff underparts with rufous wash on the breast and well streaked flanks. Pairs display to each other with open wings. It hunts for lizards, rodents, etc from a post or telephone wire.
