Description A mat-like succulent with trailing stems. The large, scimitar-shaped leaves are sharply three-angled and occur in pairs, slightly united at the base. Flowers are yellow or pink with two of the calyx lobes longer than the petals; the leaves are straight to slightly curved with serrated margins towards the tips; the fruit tapers at the base into the stalk. The pulpy fruits are edible and are used to make a jam. It is widespread in the south-western and eastern Cape areas. The leaves have medicinal properties and the expressed juice has been used as a lotion for blue-bottle stings and burns.
