Habitat

Coastal fynbos in damp, peaty soil

Description

Plants up to 25cm high, sometimes clumped. Tuber simple or multiple, pear-shaped to subglobose, with a lateral growing point. Leaf is dry at flowering, erect, lanceolate to heart-shaped, petiole and blade usually hairy. Flowers are in a cylindrical raceme, cup- or star-shaped, white, pedicels up to 20mm long. Flowers borne on a slender peduncle. From Greek: erion, wool; sperma, seed: = seed covered with white hairs.
