Description

Small stocky antelope, about 60cm at the shoulder and weighing 10-13kg. The coat is yellowish speckled with brown and white on the underparts. The hair is hollow, flattened and spiny, and acts as insulation. They move on the points of their rounded hooves and are extremely agile over the rocky terrain that they inhabit on the mountains. The muzzle is short and sharply tapered. Only males have short horns (less than 15cm), widely spaced and curving slightly forward at the tips. Usually in pairs or a small family group. Diurnal. They browse on leaves, flowers and fruit.
