Description

Leaves apparently toxic. The wood was used to make ladles at the time of Simon van der Stel (17th century). Bark has yellow pigment. Evergreen leaves are elliptic to circular, thick, ahiny, dark green above. Margin toothed along the upper half. Venation distinct. Flowers in small white clusters. Fruit fleshy , green to purplish black.
