Description

Plants to 90cm high. Bulb about 10cm in diameter. Leaves 5-11, dry at flowering, strap-shaped, floppy, spreading to suberect, 20-60mm wide, channeled, smooth, the midrib distinct. Flowers 2-12, turned to one side or evenly spreading, trumpet-shaped, fragrant, white to pink, usually pale lemon at base, veins often dark pink. From Latin: Amaryllis was a fair sheperdess mentioned by Virgil and Ovid.
