Description

Plants 40m - 65m high. Corm depressed-globose with papery to fibrous tunics. Stem unbranched. Leaves sword-shaped to lanceolate, fairly soft textured. Flowers orange, in a secund (facing to one side), spike. Seeds globose, bright orange with a fleshy coat when fresh. Chasmanthe from: Greek: chasme, gaping; anthos, flower; = shape of corolla
