April to September


Distribution: occasional on marshy coastal flats and mountain slopes, usually associated with Osmitopsis asteriscoides. Woody shrublet to 1.3m, with slender stems. Leaves sword-shaped and in tight fans Flowers paired and aggregated into racemes, tubular, the tepals remaining closed, the tube dark green to blackish, the tepals velvety and yellow above. Witsenia = after Nicholas Witsen, Dutch patron of botany in 18th century.
